Daily final Timing final

9-10/12/2013

I started off the week by missing two days.

11/12/2013

I did an error correction procedure. This made my scores go up more, and my learning opportunities decreased quite a lot.

12-14/12/2013

Over the next three days I made slow yet steady progress both in my corrects and learning opportunities.

15-16/12/2013

I missed another two days.

17/12/2013

Once again I made some significant improvements, coming close to my aim of 60 corrects per minute.

Overall, I feel that my progress has been quite satisfactory so far. I think that my next step is to not do any trials for a bit and then do a retention test, to see how much I remember.

Timing 6 (b) Timing 6 (a) Daily 6

27-29/11/2013

I had a bit of a brake here. I was busy, and didn’t really have much time to do the cards.

30/11/2013

I did an error correction procedure. It made my score improve considerably.

01/12/2013

I missed a day.

02/12/2013

Scores improved by a small amount. I also set my self a x2 celeration line for next week.

20/11/2013

I missed a day

21/11/2013

I went through the old deck for the last time. Results were pretty much the same as usual.

22-23/11/2013

I missed two days

24/11/2013

I started the new deck today. I did a two minute trial, in which I got 1.5 learning opportunities per minute and 10.5 learning opportunities. However, I only did one trial

25/11/2013

I did two trials today. I also improved slightly in terms of the number of corrects per minute. The amount of learning opportunities stayed about the same

26/11/2013

Again, I did two trials and again, there was an improvement in the number of corrects. I also got more learning opportunities.

Tomorrow I think I will go through the entire deck with no time limit, in order to learn the deck a bit better. After this, I will do a few trials and set my aim based on their results.

13/11/2013

I did a lot more timings this day. I got a slightly higher score as a result.

14/11/2013

I reduced the length of the timings from one minute to 30 seconds. This seemed to be slightly beneficial.

17/11/2013

I missed a day

18/11/2013

I carried on the 30 second trials. I also had more learning opportunities than usual

19/11/2013

I reached over 50 corrects today. I think that this may be as quick as I am ever going to be able to do them. I aim to see if I can keep this score consistent over the next few days, then move on to a new pack. I will do a retention test on the current pack a week after that.

6/11/2013

I did pretty good on this day. I had a bit of a jump up in the amount of corrects, and a fall in the amount of learning opportunities.

7/11/2013

My corrects dropped a bit today. My errors stayed pretty low though.

8/11/2013

I missed a day.

9/11/2013

More or less the same thing as the past few days.

10/11/2013

I missed another day

A slight improvement, which was repeated on the next day.

Overall, I am still not happy with my progress. This time I will actually run some interventions, and see if it helps.

Timings chart

30/10/2013

This day marked the start of an a slight increase to a new average of correct scores. The amount of learning opportunities did not really decrease.

31/10/2013

A slight increase in the amount of corrects, but with no real change in the number of learning opportunities.

2/11/2013

There was a decrease in my correct score today. this could be because I missed out a day.

3/11/2013

A general improvement on the previous day, both in terms of corrects and learning opportunities. However there it is still not much of an improvement on the scores obtained on the 31st.

5/11/2013

A similar score to the 3rd was obtained.

Overall my scores are not improving at the rate that I would like them to. I will try to get around this by drilling the errors, in order to reduce some of the leaning opportunities, and also by changing the length of the trials to 30 seconds instead of two minutes.

23/10/2013

After performing an intervention in the form of an error correction procedure, I did not see any major improvements to my corrects score on this day. In addition to this, the amount of learning opportunities didn’t really change.

24/10/2013

Thursday saw a slight improvement in the number of corrects and learning opportunities, and also the addition of a celeration line. This new line was based on a x2 improvement by the next week.

25/10/2013

After a big leap in the number of corrects and a drop in the amount of learning opportunities, I more than beat the aim that I had set a few days previously. It is because of this that I decided that I had to set myself a new aim. The new line is based on a x2 improvement on my new high score.

26/10/2013

I had a busy day, and I wasn’t able to do any trials on Saturday.

27/10/2013

Although I was scored above the line on the timings chart, I was still not meeting my aim on the daily chart. Similar scores were also obtained on the following two days. It is because of this that I will have to carry out another intervention. This could be done by changing the length of trials, or by going over the information again.

Daily per minute chart
Three one minute timings were taken each day for three days in a row. The best of each day was then recorded on the chart above. The best sore on day one was one correct and 14 learning opportunities. This score is so low because the deck is new, and I have not learnt most of the information.

The highest score for day two was four correct and 12 learning opportunities.

The highest score for day three was not much of an improvement on day two. The highest score was four correct and 14 learning opportunities. I will try to improve this score by stepping up the curriculum by doing five trials per day instead of three.

Project aims and

The aim of this project is to increase my own geographical knowledge about different countries and their capitol cities. The main goal of this project is to be able to remember the capitol cities of at least 100 countries, and be able to recount them at a rate of 60 cities per minute. This will be done using reading thorough a series of cards with the names of countries on them, and saying what their capitol city. Trails will be carried out in one minute intervals, with three trails being completed each day.
